For Billboard India’s series ‘My Top 5’, we spoke with Euphoria’s frontman Palash Sen and asked him to select his Top 5 bands. Fresh from the release of Euphoria’s ninth studio album Dhoomsday, Sen went down memory lane to pick the bands that inspire him the most. “I wish, even when we are 80, we are rocking and staying alive,” he added as a hope for his band, which is closing in on three decades. Read on for his picks.
1. Beatles
“If the Beatles were not there, there would be nothing. There would be no bands.”
2. Elvis Presley
“He is not a ‘band’, but I have to mention him. If it was not for Elvis Presley, I would not start singing.”
3. Queen
“If Freddie Mercury was not there, I would not have a stage act. My entire banyan and walking, everything is Freddie Mercury.”
4. Parikrama
“They’re an Indian band who have been very influential in my career. Parikrama made everybody in this country dream and start thinking that they could make a band and start performing.”
5. Rolling Stones
“For their longevity. I mean, Sir Mick is 83 right now and he is still strutting like that. What a man. And the timelessness of Rolling Stones… They have already completed, I think, 50 years or more, and they are around and they are rocking and they are packing in the stadiums.”
